Earlier this year, our YLC (Youth Leadership Council) applied for funds for their "Giving Gracious Groceries" project. Targeted as their Global Youth Service Day project for April, they proposed to use the funds to build a box that would be housed on our campus and stocked with food for neighbors that may have a need. They had started talks with a student group from Walsh University to help with their first food drive and were awarded funding from Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation and Youth Service America for the materials to build the box. Then COVID hit, and things changed.
While it didn't work out as they had planned, they persevered and still moved forward. Earlier this week, they finished the "box" and will make it available outside of our Fulton Training building next week stocked with food, hygiene products, pet food, and books.
